Olivia Lua’s Death Brings Calls for Mental Health Awareness in the Porn Industry

Performer Olivia Lua, 23, has passed away. In a statement from her agency, LA Direct Models, Lua, 23, passed away on the morning of Jan. 18 2018.

Lua, a native of Philadelphia, started her adult career in 2016. She also used the name Olivia Voltaire. She had worked on productions for Evil Angel, Kick Ass, Reality Kings and Vixen.com, among others.

Tragically, Lua is the fifth adult performer to die in the past three months — Olivia Nova, 20, was found dead in her Las Vegas home earlier this month; August Ames, 23, committed suicide in December; Yurizan Beltran, 31, died of a suspected drug overdose in December; and Shyla Stylez, 35, died in her sleep in November.

Adding an additional, haunting dimension of tragedy to Lua’s passing, Rolling Stone published “Is the Porn Industry Doing Enough For Performers’ Mental Health?” yesterday as well. The piece, which discussed Nova, Ames, Beltran and Stylez, had clearly been in the works prior to the day of its publication.
